Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information: an account identifier and, if you choose Apple, Google, or email sign-in, your email address, display name, and sign-in provider.
• Study content: notes, documents, images, audio, YouTube links, and other material you choose to add.
• Learning activity: spoken or written explanations, generated study tools, feedback, session history, progress, preferences, and reminder settings.
• Subscription information:purchase status, product, entitlement, and renewal or expiry details. Apple and Google process payment-card details; Zelmi does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
• Technical information: app and device information, diagnostics, crash reports, and limited usage events used to operate and improve Zelmi.

How we use information

We use information to:

• create and secure your account;
• process study material, transcribe explanations, generate learning activities, and provide personalised feedback;
• save your study sets, sessions, preferences, and progress;
• provide, restore, and verify subscription access;
• send reminders you request and respond to support messages;
• detect problems, prevent abuse, and improve reliability and usability; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.

AI processing

Zelmi uses OpenAI services to process the study content you submit and to generate transcriptions, questions, feedback, summaries, and other study tools. Only submit material you are permitted to use, and do not include sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for studying. AI output can be inaccurate, so verify important academic, medical, legal, or other high-impact information against trusted sources.

When information is shared

We share information only as needed to provide and protect Zelmi, with service providers that process information on our behalf:

• Google Firebase for authentication, cloud storage, databases, server functions, analytics, and crash reporting;
• OpenAI for AI and audio processing;
• RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management;
• Apple and Google for sign-in, app distribution, and in-app purchase processing; and
• YouTube when you choose to add a YouTube link so Zelmi can retrieve available video information or captions.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell your personal information or use your study content for third-party advertising.

Storage, retention, and security

Zelmi stores account and study data using Firebase. We retain it while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

• You can decline optional photo, camera, microphone, and notification permissions.
• You can update applicable profile and reminder preferences in the app.
• You can delete your account from Zelmi's profile settings. This removes the account and associated Zelmi data from Firebase, subject to limited legal, security, backup, and transaction-record retention. See the account deletion guide.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information.

Children

Zelmi is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

International processing

Zelmi and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for these transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Zelmi changes. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes may also be communicated in the app or through another appropriate channel.
